What is Generosity?
At LCGS, we teach, talk about, and live out generosity. One definition of generosity goes like this: “Generosity is the freedom from smallness of mind or character.”
As disciples, we believe we are called to model generous lives, to be free from smallness of mind and character, and to share our wealth in service to God’s world. As a Missional Community, we seek to find faithful ways to be generous in God’s world by partnering with missions and institutions that we believe serve God’s people in transformative ways…and we support them.
How can I live out Generosity?
Through LCGS, there are many ways that you can be generous. They fall into two categories, Regular Giving and Giving Beyond.
Regular Giving
Regular Giving generosity goes to support the endless missions that we provide here at LCGS, in the local community, and around the globe. Our annual budget is driven by your regular giving commitments, and it goes to pay for missions such as meaningful worship, Sunday school and youth programs, educational opportunities for all ages, hospital and homebound spiritual care and counseling, funeral and wedding preparations and events, building upkeep and maintenance, benevolent giving, and countless other missional activities that God is up to.
Giving Beyond
Giving Beyond is a remarkable move in your discipleship life in which you become generous with one or more specific missions, above and beyond the regular giving you already commit to. At LCGS, you can trust that we will provide faithful opportunities for you to Give Beyond. We partner with missional communities who we trust are serving the needs of God’s people. Among the places to practice Giving Beyond are: Good Shepherd Endowment, Good Shepherd Foundation, Monthly Missions, Dedicated Funds.
