Sources of Healing
Thursday, March 18
“Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my
supplications!” Psalm 130:2
Being a nurse, over the years I have witnessed patients and their families
pray for understanding, a cure, and more time. Illness of the body, mind,
and/or spirit can be overwhelming and hopeless. Providing a listening
ear, a caring presence, and support often lessens the pain and promotes
peace and health. Throughout my career I have had the honor and
privilege to assist those who are hurting and am humbled by my
colleagues who have done the same. Sometimes the healing we hoped for
and worked towards came timely and other times it came in an
unexpected way that brought a different outcome. All the same, we need
and long for care from one another and God.
Listening God, help us to remember that you are always with us in good
times and in bad. Provide a calmness and empathy to those in pain.
